I love clay masks. I find them much more natural and beneficial to my skin. Whenever my skin looks a little sallow or tired looking, my go-to is clay masks.
When I heard that PAIR'D was coming out with clay masks, I checked out their website to see what they had to offer. I was intrigued that it was a plastic pouch that contained the dry mix of clay. Since I have an oily T-Zone and dry cheek areas, I chose the Ultimate Clay formula for combination skin and bought the set with the essential oil that complements the mix. I like that the oil and dry mix are separate to avoid moisture spoiling the mix itself and ruining the benefits of this natural mask -- otherwise, PAIR'D would have had to use preservatives or chemicals to maintain the integrity of the clay mix which is against what PAIR'D is all about.
The idea is to take a little bit of the dry clay mix and add a little of the mix-in essential oil as you see fit, adding a bit of purified water to mix with a foundation brush in a bowl or non-metal container. On a clean face, I started to apply the mask. I loved the gentle smell of rosewater and rosemary, which were in the mix-in essential oil for the combination pack, so I was a bit generous with adding 6 drops to the mud mix. It smelled so heavenly, and the clay was the color of...well, clay. I do think you could use the dry clay powder alone with purified water without the essential oils if you are worried about that.
Applying the mask went smoothly, and once I got my entire face covered with a thin layer, I let it air dry and the color changed from the clay brown color to almost white powder. The essential oils and clay had a cooling effect on my face, and tightened the skin nicely. Once it dried, I used a soft washcloth and warm water and in a gentle circular motion, removed the dried clay from my face.
My skin looked glowy and felt so smooth! My skin felt like it just had a vacation and my skin didn't feel dried out but baby soft.
Before going to sleep, I sparingly put a couple of drops of PAIR'D Night Serum, and drifted off to sleep with my clean pampered face, feeling like a million bucks. I had no skin irritation or reaction. I think I can get five or six mud mask applications out of this one pack. Overall, a pleasant beauty experience!
Have you tried out the clay masks? The skin masks are clearly marked for skin that is either Normal, Sensitive, Oily, Combination, Aging or Dry so there's something for everyone. Hmm...I may try the Gluten Free Clay Oats version next...
